Happy Father’s Day this Sunday to all the dads out there! There are all kinds of great gift ideas for Dad at James Valley Garden Center, including concrete yard art, firepits, water features, yard tools—and a special sale on trees just in time to celebrate dad. A beautiful tree (or two…or three) is a great way to honor dad or grandpa, and it’s a gift that will leave a lasting legacy. Plus, with the hot start we’ve had to start our summer, trees are a great way to beat the heat with their natural shading and cooling effects.

About that sale. It’s a good one! Buy one tree and save 15%, two trees and save 20% and three trees or more will save you 25%! This is a great sale for anyone looking to upgrade their landscaping or enjoy all the natural benefits provided by trees.

In addition to our tree sale, James Valley Garden Center just kicked off our 50% off all packages of annuals sale. This means you can fill your pots, your patios and your gardens with gorgeous color for half the price. Come in now for the best selection.

We’ve been talking a bit about “beating the heat” this hot June with some watering tips. Be sure you are giving your trees, shrubs, plants and lawn a deep drink. Water slowly to let it soak in—soaker hoses area great way to make this happen. You’ll also want to be sure to keep up on your fertilizing as all the extra water will leach out the nutrients quicker. If your lawn is showing signs of stress and looking really yellow and patchy, you can water diligently and fertilize to see if it comes back…if not, you may have to wait for a cooler fall to throw down some new seed in those areas. It’s a common problem happening all over the area as a result of our extra hot temperatures just as new lawns were emerging this spring.

On a final note, we want to give a big hats-off to our hardworking landscaping crews. We got off to a slow start because of the weather this spring, and these men and women have been working up to 70 hour weeks trying to catch up on all the landscaping projects on our schedule across the region.  We are making progress, and we thank our customers for understanding and being patient. We really are working as hard as we can and we sure appreciate your business.

Happy Father’s Day from our crew to yours. Spend a little time relaxing in the shade. You deserve it.
